Display of Emotion

I’d say these Jack-O’-Lanterns are an artful display of emotion, wouldn’t you? The first one seems surprised or maybe even a bit frightened? The one below looks so stern! I am glad it wasn’t staring directly at me. What is your take?

Both of these were carved by wonderful artists at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.

An Endless Invitation

“To those who stay put
the world is but an imaginary place.
But to the movers, the makers, and the shakers,
the world is all around an endless invitation.”

Curves and Arches

Curves and Arches

For Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week of Curvy or Arches, I have started out with Chicago’s Cloud Gate by Anish Kapoor. Most of us familiar with this reflective piece of art, tend to refer to it as The Bean. Below that stands the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge in Dallas, Texas. The final two are both from the never ending tunnel system in Castillo San Cristobal in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Not Alone

Not Alone

While enjoying the coolness of early fall on Trail 9 of the Indiana Dunes State Park, I suddenly realized that I was being watched. Glancing to my right I spotted a deer, standing absolutely still and observing me with interest. I quickly clicked a few shots before the deer ran off deeper into the woods.

Do You See It?

See the mosquito? I didn’t. At least not until I downloaded the photo and suddenly felt glad it was on the flower and not on me.

Circle Within a Circle

Circle Within a Circle

Sometimes, I capture an image for no other reason than it makes me smile. Then, a challenge comes along where one or more of these images seem to fit. This is one of those times with my response to Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Circles and Wheels.

Be Still

Until the click of the shutter.

Be Still

While hiking along the trails, I often come across scenes that bring me to a stop. Bringing my camera up for a shot, I remind myself to be as still as possible as I hold my breath. Sometimes, the subject cooperates and also remains motionless just long enough for me to click the shutter.

Changing Fall Colors

Leaves are still mostly green along the Indiana Dunes National Park trails, but that won’t last much longer. Below is a glimpse of what is to come.
