Chicago Lights

Chicago Lights

One of my favorite get-aways is taking the train into Chicago and spending a couple of nights in the center of downtown. Love getting up before sunrise to walk down the streets without the busyness of traffic and crowds. Staying at one of the hotels along the riverwalk provides the perfect window views of the first light of day and also artificial lights shining across the skyline.

National Park in B&W

Indiana Dunes National Park in B&W

Landscapes from the Indiana Dunes National Park – four different trails. First, along Dunbar Beach sits one of five homes from the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago exhibit of the Century of Progress Historic District. Next, a place to rest on the Chellberg Farm. Below that, the perfect place to enjoy a sunrise is from the top of the Dune Ridge trail. Morning reflections stand out along the the Great Marsh trail. Last one is another part on the Chellberg Farm trail exposes the light and shadows of morning light.

Nature’s Geometry

Nature’s Geometry

Went out in search of lines, angles, and curves in nature to give them a try in black & white. All of these photos were captured on the same day at Chicago’s Garfield Conservatory.

Black & White Photography – A Class All its Own

Don’t do black & white photography much but I sure enjoy it when I do play around with it. I find this type of photography difficult because of the nuances of refinement and classiness that seem to pop out of an image that is captured well. I am working on that and I don’t give up easily. Alway up for a challenge, I am.
